I finally got around to upgrading from xtreme 2.5 today to try to get my locals back. I have a subscribed card with and should get chicago locals. Since i installed xtreme 3.1 i still have not been able to get locals. I've been trying midupdate and mvchannels with no luck.
I now realized that upgrading to 2.52 might have been a better idea, but now thats not possible since i cant lose my 80 hours of programs.
Any advice from someone that has their locals running on 3.1?

do a mvchannels reset and reboot. You will probalby NOT get your locals, if you just did the upgrade you would have gotten them back. If anything addlocals is all you need, #20,1 command. The mvchannels is old stuff, only causes problems.

Alright, two more questions.
I cant seem to find the addlocals file, anyone have a link?
And
What does the #20,1 command mean? I've seen commands like that all over the forums, but havent seen an explanation to what that means

It (#20,1) is a command within xPlusz, a popular collection of hacks you have probably seen in this forum. If you ran midupdate and cleared your guide data, that should have all that you need in 2.5.2 or 3.1 to get the local channels you subscribe to.

If you already had 2.5Xtreme on your DTivo and you just recently upgraded to 3.1 then you may want to consider starting over from scratch. I can pretty much guarantee that you will get utterly frustrated trying to get your locals back using mvchannels and any xPlusz command you can find. Check out my tutorial on installing 2.5Xtreme and then installing the 2.5.2 upgrade. The process applies to version 3.1 as well but I can't see why anyone would ever want to go to 3.1 over 2.5.2. AFAIK, 3.1 added a feature that permits your DTivo to accept software updates via the datastream instead of just over the phone line, but that may just be hearsay. I don't have anything I can reference to back that up so take it with a grain of salt. You'll find the tutorial on page 4 of the How Tos Only sticky thread in the DirecTivo Hacking Forum.

Well I can tell you that 2.5.2 is not any easier. I just upgraded and after 4 days, still can't get my locals back. Like C.V. says, I think we have to start from scratch and use the bootable cd's to get these back.
Its weird cuz I upgraded another dsr6000 and sold it to a buddy. He upgraded to 2.5.2, took 3 days but he got his locals back. I modified his box to begin with, so I know it is the same as mine, and I can't get mine working. Even after I cleared and deleted everything.
Save yourself some frustration, just start over.

midupdate2.tcl works like a champ everytime for me on my 2.5.2 system.
if that doesn't work, you may want to archive your recordings and start from scratch.

Captain Vid always says"dont hook your sat feeds up til you run 2.5.2" and that really is the key. If the database builds on 2.5 you'll get screwed. I never had a problem once in 100s of upgrades going this route, thats all you need, some choose to run #20,1 (addlocals in xplusz) after finishing 2.5.2 but its up to you, works fine without, maybe helps keep them?
