Recording space question

I had 2 Maxtor 120G drives in my T60. One died anda caused me to lose all 230 hrs of my recordings. I replaced them with 2 120g Seagate Barracudas. Now it shows 225 hrs instead of 230. Are the Seagates actually a little smaller?

That's what it sounds like. No two drives of the same stated capacity between different manufacturers are ever exactly the same size so what you're seeing is not at all unusual.
