I been busy with the folks over at TiVo forum, that's why I missed to many great deals.
TiVo is so addictive, well maybe a little less then deal hunting but still. :)

I came here looking for TiVo hacks and ended up on some crazy "free deal" forum instead. :p

Maybe I'll actually make it into that TiVo forum one of these days. ;)

I won a 30 hour Sony last November from one of TiVo's contests...
I wrote some little poem and won...lol.

I still want to do the TivoMAD hack with a couple 80 or 100 gig Maxtor hard drives...

That's a line from the Mr. Mom movie talking about electrical lines but it is what I tell my husband everytime he starts with his computer monkey stuff.:p I run my own online business but I let him handle all of the digithead thingamabobs and such :D I did run and ask him what a TiVo was so I wouldn't sound stupid but I decided in the end that you guys would probably have more fun with the truth :)

Tivo is a fancy VCR that uses a hard drive or two instead of tapes.
It's like a computer, in a way. It downloads program guide data through a modem and phone line. You can record programs and even delete them on the fly. You can set it up for say, a season pass to The Sopranos. It will record every show without you thinking about it, and then you can watch them whenever you please.

You can pause and rewind live television...

This is a real brief simple explanation, it actually does much more... :)

There are several other "clones" of Tivo out there...
It all boils down to features and price. Mine was free, with the exception of the $199 lifetime guide data service I did pay for.

TiVo is the best PVR (Personal video recorder), all the other clones are not even close to what tivo has. freeisgood summirized everything, except there is a difference between service, either $10/month or $250/lifetime (was $200)

If I recorded shows I don't know when I would get time to watch them! There are 24 hours in the day and I actually need about 28 or 29! I was really surprised to learn that we don't have one of these TiVo things because not only is DH a IT guy, he is the original gadget king. When you turn out the light in our computer room, you could land a 727 with the number of little lights that are blinking on all of the equipment! lol :D

You gotta get a TiVo. It's really worth all the money it costs. :)
