I just wanted to post a message advocating tutorials and to say thanks to captain_video for his tutorial on performing monte and installing hacks and of course to all those whose info the tutorial is based on. I had a couple problems here and there, but I was able to resolve them through some searching in the forum. All in all though, the tutorial is really what I have been looking for, for some time. It's also nice to use as a reference, as opposed to tracking down the post that said this or that. Over a couple days, my HDVR2 was bashed and connected to my network.

I was considering hacking my Tivo for awhile, but I didn't because there wasn't a good tutorial out there for people who don't know a lot about Linux. It's not easy to gather little bits of info here and there and then piece them together in the correct order, especially if you don't know a lot about the OS. So, I like the idea of a tutorial. Any chance you will be writing one on using mfs_ftp?

Anyway thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words. It's nice to see that someone appreciates the tutorial, even if I just used the info that others had already developed. I have yet to get mfs_ftp working on any of my DTivos so it's unlikely there will be a tutorial forthcoming from me on the subject. The problem has to do with my home network and nothing to do with Riley's program. I have no plans to swap shows between Tivos anyway so I just use TyTools for my extraction chores. Besides, all five of my DTivos are in the same room so it wouldn't do much for me to swap shows between them when all I have to do is change the input selector on my preamp/processor.
