View Full Version : Dish Pointing Question

From my last thread I said that I have an Oval dish with two NLB's (4 outputs). When I bought it, they said that if I wanted HDTV down the road, then I would need this Dish.

Here's the question:

Could I have a dish like this and because of the type of NLB's still only be able to get the signal from the 101 satalite and not the 119?

I'm thinking that installers did not know what they were doing and did not know to check for allignment from the second 119 satalites.

No. An Dtv lnb is a DTV lnb...

Are you getting signal from both lnbs?

Yes, I switched my inputs to the two other unused outputs and still was only recieving from the 101 satalite(based on chanel recieved).

I just remember them saying they never installed on oval dish before.

If the dish is pointed at 101 only, you can get that sat if you want only. the other satellites depend on the tilt, not the other 2 setting mainly. If they set it up with just a 101 detection bar, that is all you will have. For 119, you should have some rotation (tilt) to the dish, not straight up/down and left/right. I can guarantee the installers screwed it up..........
