Remote Control Recommendation

Using a Sony RM-V301 has worked fine for the past couple of years most recently has taken some abuse. The question I have is what is the best utilitarian remote out of the market? I'm using a RCA DTC-100 unit as well as the standard equipment (receiver, DVD, VCR, TV) also, I want to puchase a Series 1 DTivo in the next week or so any suggestions would be great. I have a friend who has the URC-6131 and he tells me he has problems with it keeping its memory. Thank you

There are a lot of good remotes on the market but one of the most popular universals is the Home Theater Master MX-500. It has recently been discontinued but you can probably still find them on ebay from dealers liquidating their inventories. I believe the MX-600 is the model that replaced it. I have the next higher model MX-700 which I'm still trying to find the time to program so I can't comment on it yet. The Home Theater Master series aren't generally available for retail sales, especially the more upscale models. You can usually only get them through home theater dealers. Are there any known universal remotes that can handle the remote addressing without learning every key from the peanut?

URC-6131. Has every button the peanut remote has, and some. JP1 moddable. Will run you about 17 bux.

Are you saying that you can set remote addresses with the URC-6131? To control more than one Tivo? I wasn't sure my previous post was clear on this issue.

You might want to try the Harmony line of remotes. Their 659 model even looks like the TiVo "peanut" remote with an LCD screen added.
