ok I read alot yesterday and today. Still a little confused so decided to register and ask. I dont have a serial cable because it,hdvr2, did not come with it. Dont want to wait for serial to come too long. My question is can I boot from johnnies boot cd and do the bash fixsub command. I am lost now maybe too much reading and turkey :D . Can someone point me to the right thread that I cant seem to find? I installed the automated sleeper cd monte only. Now I think I put johny in boot up the type in

mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/c ENTER (Load FAT32 HD)
mount /dev/hdb /cdrom ENTER (Load CD rom)

lost from here if even correct ENTER

Thanks in advanced :D

First, follow the tips outlined in my signature below, especially the DTivo Hacking FAQ and the Newbies Guide to the Tivo. Second, go the the series 2 hacking forum and read through the monte thread. You've got a lot of homework to do before you start hacking your DTivo.

Like Captain said, you need to do a lot more reading. If you had done even a little reading - like my thread about the ISO/scripts - then you would know that the scripts install the prevent_daily_call (fixsub) hack for you. You also would not have wasted the time and resources of others.

Again, you need to do a little more learning. I suggest that you use the search feature. All of you answers are here on this message board. For example, you might want to try searching with the words, binary, zmodem or transfer. Also, when searching, click on show results as posts. You will then quickly get an idea of weather a thread may apply to you.
