View Full Version : HDVR2 2x 160GB...slow now playing

Greetings,

I have an HDVR2 with 2x 160GB drives. It is otherwise unhacked.

With Now Playing becoming more and more populated, the initial display of NP, and sorting of Seasons Passes, is slowing to a crawl.

It is not unusual for NP to take up to 60 seconds to display.

Changing the priority of a Season's Pass is even slower - I'd say it takes nearly 5 minutes to complete the resort.

What steps might I take to mitigate this problem? For now, at least, I must keep the recorded programs intact...

Thanks,

Tim ==

thats normal unfortunately. one option is to put 4.0 on your unit, then turn on folders. that will speed things up. unfortunately, there is a limited amount of processing power and a limited ammount of ram, so a really big now showing list is slow.

that is exactly why the s1 units are going to benefit from the new cache-card. unfortunately, no cache card for the s2 units.

I am curious how you got 2 160 gig drives working. Unless you have a LBA48 kernel which requires a prom or monte then I don't think that's going to work to well.

They're not at the full 160GB. 243 hours net recording time leads me to believe they're at the 137GB limit.

I simply followed Hinsdale's instructions. Voila. Everything's been fine, except for the Now Playing slowdown :D
