Newbie DirecTivo Questions

I live in Canada and used to own a direcTV receiver. I ran it with an HU card and put an activation script onto the HU card and everything worked fine. I recently sold my receiver and am considering purchasing a new receiver.

The things I'm wondering are:

1) What DirecTivo receiver would you recommend me get?

2) What are the upfalls/downfalls of the models available? I see RCA, Sony and Hughes make them.

3) I also see there are series 1 and series 2 tivo receivers. What are the difference between the two, and what are the differences when it comes to a hu hack standpoint.

4) Is an activation script the only requirement in order to have both the tivo and directv features unlocked, or is it more complex than that to hack a directivo unit?

5) Anywhere on the web you recommend I can go to that has step by step instructions on how to program an HU card when it comes to directivo...and to download necessary files?

as for the various brands, they are essentially the same. i believe one has a little bit longer warantee, but the warantee is voided if you do any hacking. otherwise, its just a matter of which exterior you like.

series 1 units are all identical internally, and are a little easier to hack.
