I have a RedHat 7.3 installation that I would like to be able to mount my TiVo drive from instead of doing the boot cd thing. From what I have read this requires a special kernal. Compiling a kernal is a little confusing to me. Is there an already compiled kernal somewhere that would work with RH7.3 that I could copy over or could someone give me some pointers/hints/instuctions to compiling my own kernal that would allow me to do this?
Thanks
TM....

Look on the mfstools disk. It tells you what modifications you need to make to mac.c. in a txt file. You may also have to compile a seperate kernel with byteswapping for some tivos. You may also want to search on kazymyr's unlock patch.
Compiling a kernel is like hacking a tivo, It's not so bad once you have doen it.

Thanks Sleeper I will give it a go... I looked on all the iso's that I have... (johnny death, tynsdale, and cobelli) and could not find any references to building a kernal... Where did you get the mfstools disk that has the build info on it?

FYI - You actually have to boot from the CD in order to see the root fs. The fs in stored in a compressed file that is loaded into ram when the system is booted. Otherwise you would have to mount it through the loop device under linux.
