Does a Tivo have life with out the Tivo?
I have a 30hr Tivo that I am not going to renew the service on. I want to either sell it or use it as a media archive box for VOB, MPEG, MP3, etc.
What about recording music from a digital source like a cable box, or XM radio?

Thanks.

I have an SA1 that is unsubbed. I can do manual recordings and also transfer recordings to/from it via MFSFTP to it. It serves as my personal Tivo when other family members monopolize the main, subbed Tivo.

I also have it connected to a PC, DVD Player and VCR with a switchbox so I can record whatever I want to it. Examples are JPG Slideshow w/ music, DivX movies, Launchcast streams, Rental Tapes/DVDs (for later viewing and permanent removal, of course). Look for a script called fuxup.tcl to allow a an unsubbed tivo to continue to work without listings data.

EDIT: hehe.. Freudian slip. I meant "fixup.tcl"
