I would like a Direct Tivo system that has been upgraded.

Features I am looking for:

1) No need for phoneline (I live on a boat)

2) Works with my HU card I subscribe to, but will work with P4 when Direct TV sends me the new card

3) Upgraded Harddive capacity (min 30 hours of recording)

4) FTP / Telnet connectivity so I can upgrade / extract Video (network card / serial?)

5) Have tivo record to non scrambled video if possible

6) Sorted recordings if possible (I heard some don't sort, not important, but would be nice)

Thats it... I don't need everything above, but I am sure you see what I am looking for.

I have extra Direct TV receivers / old HU cards laying around if you would like make a trade / cash deal.

I wish I had the time to do this myself! I love doing stuff like this, just work tooo much now.

If you have anything like I am looking for, please email me at <e-Mail address deleted> or PM me here or reply to this message.

thanks - Rob

you cant move cards between receivers willy nilly if you are a legit subscriber. cards are married to the unit. when you get your new unit, just call dtv and ask them to send you a new card.

Maybe you're missing the point. There is no legitimate use for HU cards any longer, and using one constitutes illegal service theft.

No one is allowed to deal in images/hard drives that circumvent DTV security, as you have asked for.

Stick with using your subscribed P4 card, and you won't have any trouble on the forum, or with DirecTV.

i think you missed what was being said... he said that he still has his subbed HU... there's nothing illegal about that... and i know half a dozen people on my block who haven't gotten their p4 replacements from dtv yet... so to say that any use of a p3 is direct circumvention is very short-sighted.

Stick with using your subscribed P4 card...

therein lies the problem... he's got a legit p3... not a p4.

(unless i have completely misconstrued the entire thread)

Couple of notes here

1. Yes my neighbors are still on P3's as are some people I know back east, basically they never upgraded equipment so no new cards.

2. I PMed this person when he posted this as I had a unit for sale then he did'nt respond so Im not sure of his intentions.

3. Slapping at a moderator is never a good idea :)

And it seems that you are missing the point that his subscribed HU is married to his subscribed receiver and will not work with a new receiver unless he does something that is illegal, aka tamper with the card.
