Just wondering how much is known about the hackabilty of the upcoming HD Tivo (Hughes HD-DVR250). I have searched but was unable to find the operating system. Anyone have any insight?

Since they are not out yet no one has them. Since no one has one no one knows how the security is setup on them.

It may very well be that someone here has seen one, or is even participating in the beta. But they signed a non-disclosure agreement before getting the box, so you aren't going to hear anything from them yet.

If there is someone in here that has one, lets hope that they at least take a back up of it early in the beta, that way if there is a vulnerabilty like the U5 one, it won't be magically gone when they release the final version. ;)

Well I see some folks seem to be getting them. Orbisat seems to have them. I want to buy one but not going to if we can't play :(

Not likely they will make that mistake twice. I would love to get my hands on one just to see what additional security measures they have taken. It is entirely possible that they will not boot the U5 kernel. It it also possible that they have signed the prom code and replacing/altering the prom will not work. Not to be discouraged though, I quote a saying that I believe to be true: "What man can do, man can undo."
