I recently obtained a Phillips HDR112.
It has a lifetime subscription, is running software ver. 1.2.1. It has not dialed in in over 2 years. I just obtained a TurboNet adaptor and ISA NIC. I am trying to hash togther an upgrade path. In the end, I want to have telnet access, use eth0 to pull the guide data, and upgrade the HD's. I belive I have figured out how to get the guide to update via eth0, and the HD upgrade, but I'm not sure how to get the TurboNet working quickly. It appears the best solution is to upgrade the software to 3.xx.
My questions are:
* Where can I find ver 3.xx images? Will the Tivo update itself via phoneline if I let it dialup a bunch of times?
* Is upgrading to 3.xx recommended? What do I gain / lose?
... After I get this machine on the network, then I'll be able to worry about all the other fun things.. I'm taking this slow, I don't want to break it. ;)
Thanks much for all your help, and I apologize if these questions are answered in the FAQ's or Stickies. I've been reading and reading, there is so much information is is overwhelming. If anyone has another site to recommend, please let me know.
