I have 2 120gb hard drives in a dual setup on 2.5.2 xtreme and am replacing one with a 250gb. After reading hinnsdale instructions, I did the following:

connected it, booted using ptv-largeupgrade.iso,
ran dd to replace my "B" tivo drive - successfully, blocks in = blocks out
then i did copykern /dev/[whatever was my Tivo A drive]

then i did mfsadd -x [etc etc]

I now get stuck on "powering up". same symptom happens with either the new "B" or the old "B" drive.

Did I miss something? ( I later read I should have used mfsbackup/restore, but I wanted to preserve recordings )

Thanks

Check your jumpers and make sure they're set correctly. Check your power and IDE cables and especially the parlax ribbon cable between the power supply and mainboard. If any of them are not seated properly you'll stick at the Powering up screen.

Thanks! You're awesome, something as simple as that can prevent it.

I replaced the worn cable as well so it worked.

My next ? is: I expanded the B drive to a new B drive, ran mfsadd -x ..etc..
then I dd'd my A drive to a new A drive, running mfsadd returns:

Expanding ... would result in too many partitions.
Can I only run mfsadd once? It doesn't seem logical.
