Thanks to some of the guys here, I was able to monte my 40hr SD-DVR40 tivo.bak to one of my 120gb hd.
Okay... here is what I did to test a few things...
I goofed around with this last night (being a newbie) and I first backup up my 40hr gb to a spare 120gb, applied sleeper iso, monte, tested it in my tivo, it said "35 hrs", I expaned it, tested again and it now said "105 hrs"!!!
GREAT!!
Now here is my question, being a newbie and not knowing better/more about my tivo capabilities, earlier this week I added 120gb to my 40hr tivo, making it a 140 hr tivo. Problem is now that I know about monte, sleeper iso and tytools and all, I want to monte mine. I have about 10 shows I haven't watched yet and want to save, but that is one my A/B drives. Where as, my second "spare" 120gb I applied the monte sleeper iso.
Can I monte my A/B drive without losing recordings?
I read that some have problems viewing after monte is applied.
I know that the previously recorded programs, will not be unscrambled... that's fine.
Worst case is I can start from scratch on my A/B 146 hr tivo, apply my monte and start over again (losing recordings, but is there a way around that)
Also, question about adding a "B" drive to my monte system.
Once it is monted, lets say I monte my 120gb, expand, then I want to add my 40hr as a "B" drive to make it a 140 monted tivo, do I use the same mfsadd command to the 40hr tivo alone? Will that mess up my monte on "A"?
Just curious!!
As to trying to use the DD comand and slow process, I can't copy my current "A" drive since it is already "marrried" to my new "120gb", I have to backup both together, which means I'd need to get a new 160gb hd to save my recordings, then apply the monte.
Any ideas anyone???
Sorry for the long post! I hope you can gather what I'm trying to accomplish and what I attempted to do already!
Thanks!!
