very basic question

I used to have a dsr6000 and installed 25xtreme on it quite some time ago but got rid of the unit. I have recently aquired another dsr6000 and have noticed that the scene has changed quite a bit. From what I can see there has been a number of newer versions of xtreme but they are also seemingly harder to come by. Will my old 25xtreme.iso still work or has Tivo implemented changes which make the newer versions of xtreme necessary?

The basic release of 2.5Xtreme has never been changed so it should work fine. You will need to get a copy of Superzap's xupgrade.iso image to upgrade your DSR6000 to OS version 2.5.2 or 3.1 and also install his xPlusz suite of utilities and hacks (included in the xupgrade.iso). Check the series 1 DirecTivo hacking section and you'll find a procedure I put together in the How To's Only sticky thread on page 4 that tells you how to install 2.5Xtreme and then upgrade to 2.5.2 with as little pain as possible. It can be a little tricky when it comes to getting your locals to come in so pay close attention to the instructions and you should be fine.
