Maybe you should take a look at the owners manual.

Recording stuff that it thinks you might like is a Tivo FEATURE.

That's supposed to be one of the selling features of Tivo. :D

I don't have a standalone so your menu might be slightly different but you can turn this feature off

TIVO > My Preferences >TiVo Suggestions > No, don't record TiVo Suggestions.
