I have 5 or 6 .ty movies that I extracted from my tivo.
I used tytools to convert them into mpeg's
When I try and burn them to dvd the program im using (show biz, yes i know its junk) re-encodes the video. This, ofcourse takes hours, even on my beefy athlon xp 3200+ system.
So, my question is:
Is there any way to get those ty files onto a playable dvd without spending all that time re-encoding?
Thanks for your help people!

COME ON MAN!!!!
This is very well documented.
(Just kidding around, but it is very well documented)
I am almost 100% positive you will have to convert the files to MPEG2 for it to be a payable DVD in a DVD player. I have been burning DVDs for a few years now and have not come accross anyway to do this unless you have a DVD player that can read other formats. There are like one or two DVD players that will play DivX and some other MPEG4 formats but they cost $300+.
EDIT: I forgot to add that you could get those files onto a DVD without re-encoding. The drag and drop ( AKA archiving ) method would work using a the "Data DVD" option that is in most of the standard DVD burning software programs. But then you could just use a PC to get them back off. I assumed you wanted to play these files on a DVD player.
This is the site you should go to if you ever have question about making DVDs.

TyTools can create a DVD fileset which you can burn onto a DVD with any burning software, like Nero. It's all explained in the readmes in the TyTool package, or in dozens of posts in Extraction forum.
Whether your DVD player can play the non-DVD standard TiVo video is another matter - most recenet players can.
