Seem to be having trouble with editing/cutting Dtv S2 mpeg files on my mac. I like using Sizzle for DVD's ,but can't seem to find a good tool for editing out parts of the mpeg stream I don't want on my DVD. i.e HBO "S.O.D" for the first 2min of every show.
Hate to revert to editing on the PC.
Help please.

That's strange. Every Mac owner I've known insists the editing tools available for the Mac are superior to those for the PC. ;)

tyeditor is fine for gross editing like that. I wouldn't do much more than trimming off the start and finish though, and leave a safety margin of about eight seconds (or trim closer but be prepared to redo occasionally if it cuts too deep).

Got one to work. GOPchop.
A bit odd to use, but you can see video and easy to use GUI.
You'll need Xcode, Fink and X11 as well as mplayer(for video-output for GOPchop)
Works well for Dtivo files.

Hello, I just now joined this list, and would like to get GOPchop installed on my new MacPro. Running OS 10.4.10 and am new to the system.
In my old F-BSD machine, in shell, go to the port, then make install && make clean
Now, on this new mac' I have X-11 installed and running well.
Fink, where do I get that?
M-player: can I used the ported .dmg version?
Can you recommend a tutorial or reference material for installing F-BSD ports or open software on MacPro Intell running OS10.4... ?
Attently yours,
Carmen

There are numerous options today. I like mpegstreamclip, but just do some searching and you'll find others.

thanx Roger
I'm all over it! hopefully I can find something similar to NanoCosmos, or GOPchop: I love the idea of cut and joins without having to re-encode
GUYS: let me know if y'all think of any thing
