How to set up static IP?

Is there a way to set up a static ip inside the TiVo itself so it knows what t ask for? I have a Series 1 TiVo and can't specify static IP for it on the router side. Thanks for your help.

You can specify an IP address by using nic_install or sbin/nic_config_tivo if you've run nic_install before and have telnet access. I don't know if he Airnet install installs nic_config_tivo but the turbonet install does.

The nic_config_tivo is not in the sbin/ dir. I do have ftp and telnet access so it must be somewhere on the thing. Thanks for you help.

When you installed your card did you run nic_install or did you put it in and let the Tivo's built in 3.0 drivers handle it? If it's the latter then nic_install_config won't be on the Tivo.

I am pretty sure that is what I did. I take it I will need to install it to be able to assign a static IP..
