As a S1 standalone TiVo user who setup all the hacks, what am I looking on needing for the easiest way to get a S2 DirecTiVo to be as functional (tivoweb-tcl, tytool for extraction, telnet and ftp)?

What is the recommended and easiest to use USB adapter for DirecTiVo?
The Linksys with the flimsy connector?

Is it easy to activate the USB ports on the DirecTiVo? I imagine I will need to pull the drive.

What is the Extreme TiVo 2.5 image? Is it an image with all the hacks already installed? Where can I get it?

Will it be a problem for my Linksys router to DHCP an IP to the DirecTiVo if I keep my standalone on the LAN (for local channels)?

In order to record and extract on DirecTiVo, is it true I need to first install a hack that keeps the machine from encrypting the files as they are streamed to disk?

I personally use the Netgear FA-120. It's USB2 and built like a tank.

You'll have to pull the drive in a S2 DTivo to do ANYTHING to it, so just be prepared for that.

Dunno on Extreme 2.5 image, I used Sleeper's ISO aka Tivoscripts 1.02 on my DSR704.

Is there a reason you want to use DHCP? It's just as easy (or easier) to set a static IP on the machine.

Yes, you will need to do something to stop the scrambling. I suggest the tivoapp patch instead of using kmem.
