I am looking to purchase a 3 room package from expertsatellite.com, consisting of 3 Directivos SD-DVR40. I have read the forums but I am still VERY confused.
I would like to:
1) Upgrade the hard drives to a larger size
2) Be able to burn dvd's to a MAC running OSX from one unit
3) Have one of the units at my cabin out of state

The question is can all of this be done and if so what are the steps?
Do I need to change the eprom? I dont think I am up to that level so are there services that offer that?
Do I need to beg for an Image?
Where and what software do I need?
What version software should I use?
Does it matter if the cabin one calls in from a different ph number?

1. Piece of cake. Several ways to put in a larger hard drive.
2. Sleeper's TiVoScripts will enable video extraction (and is one of the ways to accomplish 1)
3. I don't know about this. Sleeper's TiVoScripts will remove the need for the DirecTiVo to call in. TiVo charges one flat amount ($5.00) for all DirecTiVos in your home. However, I believe the pricing structure calls for all the systems to be in one location. I'll let the elders decide if moving one of them to another address constitutes 'Theft of service'.

It does. But let's try to get past that for now, since he was just "asking" if it was allowed.

For a goof, let's work on the premise that he was ignorant of the DTV requirement....
