I had done the sleeper Monte upgrade a few months ago, and everything worked great!!!!.. I had a power outage the other day, and my HDVR2 now is stuck on the "Almost there Screen".

I hooked up my serial cable to the HDVR2 which is Monted with 4.0 and rebooted, i do get bash, but it goes through a bunch of stuff, and then just hangs. (meaning I cant type anything, so technically I dont have bash).

I figure I'll have to take the HD out and use sleepers new ISO to access the drive, but can somebody tell me what to look for? I've got a bunch of stuff saved on it, so I am hoping to salvage the HD.

thanks

Pull the drive to PC boot with Sleepers

Asuming tivo is hdd

bootpage -p /dev/hdd

if its blank you will need to write one back

come on back with results

Okay-

Pulled the drive, booted Sleepers Knoppix cd and did a bootpage -p /dev/hda

it says:

root=/dev/hda7 dsscon=true console=2,115200 BASH_ENV=`mount$IFS-n$IFS/dev/hda16$ IFS/mnt;echo$IFS/mnt/runmonte`

(not sure if there is a space between the hda16$ and IFS/mnt because of screen wrap)

so i guess this means that i do have a bootpage. Not sure what the IFS is.....guessing some kind of variable

Got it working!!!

Looks like my var/hack directory was gone. I manually created it and rebooted. and it worked.

can somebody explain how my var/hack directory got deleted? Is it because the logs were too full like i read somewhere?

thanks for all the help

Yep, that's the reason.
