directv sub with 2.5.2 xtreme

I recently bought a Sat-T60 that has been upgraded to xtreme 2.5.2 with 2 120gb drives and does not call Tivo (life sub) or DTV for that matter (no phone line). I would like to be able to buy PPV and will need to plug in a phone line. I have read a lot here and want to get some clarification to my specific situation before I act.

Planning to do the following:

Reset and Clear All on Dtivo
Plug phone line in.
Call DTV and tell them to reset PPV's
Maybe enable Caller ID functions in xpluz commands


Should I do a Reset and Clear All before plugging in the phone line?

With a phone line will 2.5.2 extreme cause me some pain by accepting upgrades but not installing them? (ie reboots)

If sois the only way around this to not hook a phone line up essentially trading the ability to get PPV's for no upgrades? I can't order online as I am assigned to a regional provider not DTV directly.

Would upgrading to xtreme 3.1 resolve any of the upgrade issues? Have no need for networking for now, 2.5.2 seems to have everything I need.

Any help appreciated, Just trying to be legit but not screw up the DTivo I have paid for.

You can order PPVs via the DTV website so there's no need to plug in a phone line.

AFIK the nophone hacks only stop the tivo phone call not the DTV call. Most of us leave the phone line unplugged for insurance.
