Have one T60 fully paid lifetime/subbed with 40gb hard drive. Have another with 252extreme and lots of shows on it.

Can I take the drive out of the latter, re-jumper it to Primary Slave, and install it in the former, in order to keep all the shows?

Neither unit has networking set up and while I believe I could install a new large second drive and transfer the shows with mfs_ftp (or whatever it's called), I would like to find an easier way to accomplish the task.

Any other suggestions appreciated. TIA.

You can't just add two drives together and keep the recordings. This would work is the recordings were on the A drive and you wanted to add a new blank B drive but not the other way around. It sounds like mfs_ftp is going to be your best bet, although it will take you a while to transfer the shows, depending on how may you have recorded.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have not read the mfs_ftp readmes and FAQ in their entirety (and am on my way to do so), but I hope that I can transfer the shows from tivo->PC with the drives IN the PC, thereby avoiding installing networking on both machines. Thanks again.

I just found the "Direct extraction from a tivo drive in a pc (not networked) sticky thread. I got to believe my answer is in there...up from tivo drive to pc...pc back to other tivo drive.
