Ok... wait... on sec... *zip*... alright, flame suit on.

Anyhow, I have been searching this site up and down, but apparently my search skills suck. Here's my situation. I have a DSR6000 with xtreme2.5.2 installed. It has worked great, with no dial-in required. It has been inactive for a while and I want to subscribe it to DirecTv. Well, I would really like to install 3.1 (if there are actual advantages to doing so ) before subscribing, but since I don't have a phone line where the receiver will be used (and since I like to keep my viewing habits private ), I would like the option of not using a phone line. I am already paying for the DVR service, so I am not concerned with that. So... any suggestions? Should I stay with 2.5.2 or upgrade to 3.1? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time! :)

There seems to be a split decision on whether 3.1 is better than 2.5.2. I had 3.1 for a short time but decided to go back to 2.5.2 and still have it on my DSR6K today. The only major difference I recall seeing was that I started getting the Starz on Demand previews with 3.1 listed in the main Tivo Central menu. 3.1 is supposedly a bit more stable then 2.5.2 but I've not had any problems staying with 2.5.2. You can always upgrade to 3.1 using Superzap's xupgrade program and then downgrade back to 2.5.2 if you decide you don't like it.

So I guess all I have to do is call in and subscribe... So there's no special difference between 2.5.2 and 3.1? Hmmm... alright, well thank you very much for your help. I guess there isn't anything for me to do then. Sweet...
