Series 1 Wired w/turbonet to Wirleess, Possible?

Ok, Already Got a Turbonet installed in my Sony SA 2000, Using Linksys Router
Can I just install a Ethernet to Wireless Adapter and Use the Existing Drivers?

Or is it Better to Get the Airnet.
I Would prefer to just add an Adapter if Possible.
If So What Adapter?

IMHO you're better off using an external Ethernet to Wireless adapter for 2 reasons.

1) The airnet has limited range/speed since the antenna is inside the Tivo cabinet.

2) When you get tired of the poor performance on wireless, you'll just have to run the CAT5 cable and get real speed out if it. :)

No doubt about it. You will get dissapointed of the poor rates of Wireless, and you'll go back to wired in less than 24 hours... (unless you're not into extracting video from your Tivo)

The drivers on the Tivo are to handle the Turbonet, so that wouldn't change. Everyone has there own favorite brands, so I can't recommend an adapter.

I thought of using wireless for the Tivo that lives in the Volvo wagon. It's a nice way to transfer video without taking it out. I finally decided that taking it out and plugging it into house power/network was still the best choice. No point in draining a car battery and spending more money on wireless hardware. I just thought it was a shweet concept but, like many shweet concepts, just too impractical. <shrug> Hey.. watta you expect? I own a Volvo wagon, after all.

Maybe I can wire the garage for ethernet?...

I Guess I can Use the Wireless for the Guide Info and then When I need to Extract, Pull out the 50ft Cat5 and run it upstairs.

Tivo in the Volvo...HUH?, You trying to Increase the Value of it....LOL.

240GB of kids shows makes for quieter and more stress free road trips. That definitely adds value.

Two thumbs up, my friend. Next to a bigger HD, there is no better hardware mod for the S1. I only have a 256MB mem stick in mine and the difference is huge. There's also the added bonus of a faster ethernet card. I also have multiple Tivos (1 subbed, many unsubbed) and I really notice the difference when switching between them.

BTW, the one in the Volvo is unsubbed :-)
