I just installed 2 hard drives 120 and 80 using Sleeper's ISO.
Tested and success.
Continued with the surgery, but the second drives pin broke  . 2nd drive now unuseable.
Question is can I boot up with one drive even though it was originally two drives?
somehow it's stuck at powering up
thanks,
vnox

No. You will need both drives working to power up the Tivo.

You'll need to remonte the A drive from scratch and then add a new B drive. Once you're added a 2nd drive the Tivo needs to see the drive on the IDE bus or it won't boot. Since the 2nd drive is now kaput you don't have any other option than to start over with a new drive.

thanks for the help!!
I redid my 120, tossed the 80, went through Sleeper's tested, worked.
Another problem, can't ping the Tivo
Now, the following is set as.....
Tivo IP 10.0.0.3
Netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 10.0.0.255
gateway 10.0.0.1 (linksys BEFSR41)
My SD-DVR40 is connected through USB200M,
lights are on the adapter and the Linksys Router, but I can't ping it.
any ideas?
thanks,
Vnox

The default gateway for a Linksys BEFSR41 should be 192.168.1.1 (this should coincide with the web address you use to access the router's setup menus via your web browser according to the router's manual). Your broadcast IP should then be 192.168.1.255 and your Tivo's IP address should be 192.168.1.XXX, where XXX can be anything between the range of addresses assigned dynamically by your router and the maximum address of 255 (I usually use anything in the range of 200 and above for my DTivos and my BEFSR41). The IP addresses you're using must have been pulled out of thin air. To put it bluntly, RTFM and understand what addresses need to be assigned.

Hello Captain,
Actually my router is setup as 10.0.0.1. My pc is currently at 10.0.0.2.
I had changed the settings long time ago from the default 192.168....
Gateway 10.0.0.1
PC IP 10.0.0.2
TIvo 10.0.0.3
SUBNET 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server enabled
10.0.0.5 to 10.0.0.8
Maybe I'll just have to pull it out from tivo and check the author settings.
thanks guys!!,
