Ok, after reading for days, here is my first stupid newbie question:
after reading everything and not knowing a lot about linux, how
would you suggest the best way to upgrade my Tivo,
the problem I have so far is that the phone has been cut in the
receiver, dont know why, so I cant dial out at all (realized this after
trying to force the call for about the 50th time)
I picked up another tivo from the same place, and well damn
if it aint cut too, only this one appears to never have been fully
setup before the phone was cut on it as well. A good deal is really
too good to be true. So now I have 2 rca dvr40's that I am stuck on
3.1.1
I do pay for tivo service and am happy to do so, but given the
receiver phone lines being cut. I am forced to look at using upgrades
and hacks.
WELL FINE: but being that I am computer savy, but linux stupid, what is the
best way to go about this... I see a lot of step by step cd's being sold that
say they do everythign almost automatic.
My plan is first to get the second dvr40 operational, and then to
upgrade to a larger drive. before I ever touch my original paid tivo
Suggestions needed.
