hack dir disappeared?

I just opened a telnet session to my TiVo to start TiVoWEB, and found that my var/hack directory appears to be totally missing! I also can't FTP to the TiVo, I get a "connection refused". This worked a couple of weeks ago, and I'm wondering what could have happened to kill that stuff, yet allow the machine to run normally.

The only thing in the error log, tverr is:

Vanishing /var/hack directories is a very common occurrence. When the log files get too full the Tivo sometimes wipes the /var/directory and starts from scratch. You can restore the /var/hack directory using the hack.zip file. It's posted in numerous places here and probably over at pvrfiles.com. Look in the How Tos Only sticky thread and see if there isn't a post about the vanishing /var/hack directory and what to do about it. I may have mentioned it in the DTivo Hacking FAQ but it's been a while since I've looked it over.
