I downloaded the file TiVo Image ver 3.1.1c - S2-40-3-1-1c.zip from emule and restored it. Everything seemed to work well the software version even said 3.1.1c :). However when I tried to monte it with Sleepers ISO i get an error at the initrd stage of the sugery... I RE-Restored it (just incase sleepers iso messed something up since it didnt compleate). I then realized that there was a hack dir in the var folder (therefore is must have been tampered with)...
I hooked it bak up and connected my bash cable, I get the standard readout from my bash sceen while it booted up however I can type anything. Does this mean that my BASH is NOT up?
I also use the usb ports for ethernet (on my old U5 software)...
Is there anyway to either UNhack my current drive so I can use sleepers ISO?( I tried a clear and del everything although I know its just messes with the mfs not the actual dir trees)...
At lease if I could get bash I could manually do the other stuff..
PS: I have looked around the forums and found some data to help me however I was unable to locate anything specific for this direct problem...
Thx for all you help :)

I there any reason I should upgrade from U5?
I have a virgin U5 that I can restore... But I though 3.1.1c would have better features... NOT I cant plug it into a phone line...

I think I would find it helpful if I had any idea what you just said...
What's U5? I'm planning on hacking my HDVR2 in the very near future (I upgraded it a year ago, should have hacked it then) and it's already 311c, so I guess I get to use my own image.
Do you NEED a bash cable to do this hacking? I guess at some point I'll just have to go get a new HDD and try all this out - the only real problem is that if I disable the TiVo for more than a few hours, my wife will kill me.
So, thanks for posting - it might be helpful, I'm just not sure yet.

3.1.U5 was the orginal sofware that came on the tivo from STOCK... If you have a unhacked tivo with 3.1.1c you are lucky b/c u can just backup the orginal drive and restore it to a larger drive (then apply hacks to get everything you need {ie BASH})...
Sleeper's ISO is all you will need...
A bash cable is nessessary at least to get ethernet running... (You dont need it but if want tivo web, extraction, other hacks you will need an interface to communicate with tivo)...
What I recommend is get a bash cable get a USB wifi card. Instill the wlan-ng-tivo.tar.zip driver files (This is the drivers I used anyway)...
Once you get wifi up You can just telnet into the tivo from a cpu on the network and have the same features as if you used a bash cable...
PS: What I was refering to is when you backup a drive with Sleepers ISO it makes a variable file on your fat32 hdd for use... If you leave this variable file and then restore a different image the variable will not be the same so you may get errors; however if you are simply baking up then restoring you should be 'A' OK.....
PPS: If you do want a bash cable you can either by one ment for a tivo, make one from scratch or buy a cable that will work...
Some of these cable that will work are: Some Kodak camera cables, TI83 graphing calculator connection cables... If you can find a com to stereo cable you should try it... :)
Hope that clears things up a bit... :)

Ah, it makes a lot more sense now... although I think I will go wired USB since I have cable running all over my house and don't want to buy a wireless hub just yet.
Thanks!
