directv tivo help usb ethernet and other patches

Im reading about the 4.0 hack the monte and superpatch.

I have a Samsung S4040R Directv TiVo.
Ive heard that there is a way to enable usb 2.0 so that i can use my usb 2.0 usb to ethernet adapter is that possible through monte which is in sleepers iso, whats the superpatch and 4.0 hack, will it work on my directivo or do i need them

There is plenty of info on this board about installing USB 2.0 drivers in your Series 2 (D)Tivo... lots of people have gotten it to work. Use the board's advanced search option, try search terms like "usb 2.0" or "usbcore.o" and make sure you select "view results as posts" at the bottom of the search form. Then, start reading...

I have two HDVR2s and I screwed up patching tivoapp. Now my tivo continuously cycles through powering-up and almost there... I know I should have made a backup..and will do in the future, however, I'm wondering if it's okay to copy tivoapp from my working tivo and replacing my broken tivoapp.? Is tivoapp married to my serial number?

I have read quite a bit about the USB ports on the back of the Samsung SIR-S4040R Directv - Tivo Series 2 unit and have come to the following conclusions.

(1) You have to use Tivo Sleeper to activate the USB ports. then
(2) find a software application to install that will activate the HMO.

I have not tried this and am wondering if anyone has. the only software i have seen that will provide HMO interface is Superpatch -- i do not know if this will work on the S4040R.

If anyone has successfully enabled the USB ports on Directv Tivo series 2 unit and was also successful in activating HMO service for playing music or displaying photos -- Please let me know.

i got the usb ports to work on my samsung but i havent tried the HMO i think you have to install tivo VSN 4.0 for the HMO to work
