Coming from the ReplayTV world I've been using a great tool over there. It would be great to have the same functionality on the tivo.

The application is DVArchive and it's a java app.

With all the cool tools for the tivo it seems that something like this could be do-able on the tivo side without much work aside from the PC app.

DVArchive allows you to download files from the replayTV to a PC.
You can schedule DVA to download files as they become avaiable.
Files can be streamed back to replayTVs for remote viewing
There's also an integrated guide that you can use to schedule recordings on the replayTVs, view conflicts and other useful features.
Files can be imported from the PC into DVArchive for playback on remote replaytvs.
There's a web interface to remotely schedule shows over the web
And a bunch more features that make the app pretty damn slick for any user of a DVR.

It seems that most of the functionality that would be needed for this stuff is already created in small packages, pushing shows, extracting, scheuduling, etc.

How hard would it be to tie all the parts together, give it a slick UI and add scheudling?

This has been discussed before. A search would have turned up a few threads.

Dr Null, yeah I searched, but I didn't find that. I think it was because my search was limited to the dev area... doh!

I know that originally Gerry (the author of DVA) had wanted to do something that could be used with Tivo too. I think the dreams got bigger than could be done, with burning him out more... then there was the plug-in idea for DVA 3.0 which sounded like it would be excellent for adding functionality in without much work. DVA even has a setting for the file type as a Tivo file. From what I remember the work involved in adding a whole new line was too much for him to want to take on.

Anyway, I'll look over those threads.
Thanks.
