I had upgraded my Hughes SD40 with a 120gig hard drive (A>A replacement) and everything was working fine for a couple months.

Recently I tried the Sleeper Script and everything worked ok (but I was waiting on a USB network card, serial cable, hdd bracket, etc).

When the hdd bracket came, I figured that I would try to add another 120gb hard drive as a B drive. Needless to say, I must have messed something up and it hung on the "Powering Up..." screen.

So I got my trusty backup image out (from before the sleeper script) and restored my 120gb hard drive to it. Everything went as planned with no error messages and it showed the correct ammount of hours (129 for SA).

When I popped the drive into my tivo however, my remote will no longer work. My buttons on the front panel DO work (so I don't think I bumped the ribbon cable from the mobo to the front panel).

I searched the forums and I found something about sony to phillips (generic) remote switching but I don't think that would apply here.

I also checked my remote code in the system information and it's still on default (0) and I set my remote to that just to be sure. That didn't help though.

So, do you have any suggestions? If it were a hardware problem (the ribbon cable) I would think the front panel buttons wouldn't work.

I do have a serial cable that just came but I haven't used it yet. (haven't even tried to get bash)

Thanks for all the help so far, and I tried to read as much as possible.

Edit: I just took off the front panel to check the ribbon cable and one end was slightly unseated. I re-seated it, booted the tivo, and presto - a working remote!

I guess it must have gotten jarred just while taking on or off the case.

Thanks guys!
