Tivo Crashing within 3 minutes

My tivo is crashing within a couple minutes of booting. I tried booting and immediately attempting to change the channel on lice tv but that crashes it too. If I leave everything alone it stays at the tivo screen and will not respond to a remote. It will allow me to telnet in and reboot. I have a SA2 running 4.0 with monte and tivowebplus.

I just figured out that my serial connection to the tivo is not working correctly causing it to crash. I've plugged and unplugged and went back through setup and it tells me that it cannot communicate with the motorolla box. It was working fine until now. What's up?

Let me preface this by saying that I have ZERO experience with SA tivo's, but I seem to remember people saying that when they use the serial connection for channel changing, they have to remove some lines from the rc.sysinit.author file, and possibly the bootparms

/bin/bash</dev/ttyS2&>/dev/ttyS2&

should be removed, maybe. Just a thought. I have no idea, though.
