Totally new to Tivo 2 -- Want to try to extract some videos

Well, I am totally new to hacking Tivo boxes. I have a Samsung Tivo 2 box. First of all what kind of stuff do I need to get to make this happen. Seccond of all what are the steps to get it to work? Are there any online tutorials I should be reading? (I have read a few but none ever seemed to work for series 2 Tivos) Should I buy any books from the bookstore? Any info about hacking the Tivo 2 for video extraction would be great. Thank you.
