View Full Version : mfs_tmfstream straight to Tivo?

I see that mfs_tmfstream can output to an ip address and port. Is there anyway I can point this to my tivo tunning mfs_ftp and transfer shows right on to the tivo?

I'm pretty sure that's covered here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21915)...:

here's a little tivo side ftp server for moving recordings from tivo -> pc, pc -> tivo or tivo <-> tivo with a regular browser or ftp client.

Or did you mean something else?

I did mean something else. I meant from an old tivo drive hooked to a linux box. I figured out a solution.

On the tivo run mfs_ftp

For the tivo drive, I simply ran knoppix(not sleepers, but you could). I ftped over mfs_tmfstream binaries over.

export MFS_DEVLIST=/dev/hdc
run mfs_ls '/Recording/NowShowingByTitle'

Find the fsid of the show you want.

Then I wrote this perl script:

use Net::FTP;

$ftp = Net::FTP->new("{YourIP}", Port => 3105, Debug => 1) or die "Can'
t connect: $@\n";

$ftp->put(*STDIN, 'show.tmf')
or die "Can't send from STDIN: $!\n";

to move a show simply run:

mfs_tmfstream {fsid} | {perlscript}

This will put the show right on the tivo.
