Best Buy's weekly add for Sept 5-11 (visible on bestbuy.com) shows Seagate 160GB available in the store for $99.99 with no mention of a rebate. (See p.27 of the weekly ad.)
Their online price is $129.99-$50 rebate = $79.99. I'd rather pay $99.99-$50 rebate = $49.99. So, after verifying that I could print their $50 rebate form off the web, I went to the store to buy one for $99.99.
On the shelf they're labeled as $129.99 w/$50 rebate = $79, just like the web. So I went to the checkout, showed them their own weekly ad (they had lots at the store) and told them "I'm here to buy one at your advertised price." The checkout guy had a cow, but the manager was cool about it. It just took a while to get to him, as the regular checkout droids had to spend 15 minutes nattering among themselves and looking at me as if I'm a terrorist. But, bottom line, they will sell it to you for $99.99. Just be firm and polite, be nice and smile the whole time, and don't take 'no' for an answer.
They wouldn't give me the $50 rebate form that gets spit out with my receipt. So, I went home and printed it from their web page. I think the person who made up the weekly ad goofed by $30. But they printed their ad and put it up on their web page, not me.
Some stores have the Seagate 160GBs in stock, some don't. The web page will tell you which is which. I don't know how accurate it is.
