Hello, is there a way to make an HDR112 manually record immediately with just one or two button presses?

By "manually record immediately", do you mean "what is on right now"?
If so, on my Standalone S2, it's as easy as pressing "Right" (if necessary, to pull up the program information on screen) then Select while watching Live TV.
Or pressing the Record button does the same thing, IIRC. ;)

press 'rec' works for a recording of the current show, as per the listings, but there's no easy way to do a quick 'manual record' where you control the channel, quaility and start-stop times+padding.
I do this a lot when recording DVDs to the Tivo. I have found that you can get pretty close without wasting space but it takes practice and a little mental arithmetic. It also becomes quicker with practice. You have to know the run time of your movie and use padding. I now rarely waste more than 5 minutes of recording time on any given movie and every once in a while I hit it 'dead on' where the recording ends just as the end credits are mostly done.
