View Full Version : Fixsub on Series 2 WITHOUT all the hacks?

I have several active subbed series 2 (DSR704, SD-SVR40, SIR-S4040R) unhacked receivers. I would just like to remove the phone nag, since my receivers are not near a phone line. What is the bare minimum to achieve this?

(I previously owned a S1 that I hacked with xtreme -- so I'm unfamiliar with S2)

Of course, I will be backing up the HD images first - do I just need to install 31fixsub (software on receivers is 3.1.1c) on the HD? I've been searching and reading for a couple days now and can't seem to find a definitive answer?

Thanks.

A wireless modem jack?

Or a wifi network? ;)

Maybe I should expand on this....

My home will no longer have a land-based phone line - only mobile phones. And I don't have a home network (and don't care to set one up at the moment).

I've read many posts that promote killhdinitrd since Sleepers ISO is outdated and claims to be better than monte. However, do I need to run killhdinitrd in order to run the fakecall/fixsub hack?

I've used all-in-one scripts on my S1 DTivo, so I've never manually hacked my DTivo. I could use some advise and/or direction. I would even be appreciative if someone could direct me on the proper method to get a BASH prompt. I like to do things the right way and I'm not afraid of a little research. I just need to some direction at this point.

So again, all I am trying to accomplish is installing a hack that will rid me of the phone call nags. Thanks again.

You'll need to run killhdinitrd at a bare minimum to install any hacks. Once you've got it patched you can run the fakecall script packaged with tpm for the nophone hack.
