This is a cabled card. It works with the standard 2.0 drivers that were included in Sleeper's ISO. Good until 10/31/04

Also, these (http://store.mrtechus.com/xtusb2010fae.html) ax8817x adapters are $18 shipped, no rebate. Customer service is so-so.

And don't use the 5/2003 drivers; they're deprecated (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24626).

So, the $18 special was $20.57.

I wish I had known about the USB200M deal....

Anyone know if these are better than the Netgear equivalent (forgot the model)?

I only get ~.8Mbps (or is it MBps?) with the Netgear. I was expecting up to 2.0. Tips on increasing xfer speed appreciated. Thanks.

The Netgear model is the FA120. I find it to be a much better model for use with a Tivo than the Linksys USB200M. The Linksys is really designed for laptop use as it is small and portable. The connector port tends to be a bit fragile and doesn't always mate well with some ethernet cables. I typically can find the Netgear FA120 for about $23-25 shipped doing a search through c/net.

Just a heads up. This is still a good deal, but be wary. This adapter is fairly flimsy. I've had issues with the cover falling off, which means that when that happens, the cable no longer stays in place. It is fixable, but a hassle. I wouldn't recommend it unless it (and the cable that might tug on it) can remain fairly stationary. Still a good price though.
