I have my new usb drivers in this directory and every time I do a hard boot(unplug the S2 and plug it back in) this directory disappears. Why? I have put them back on once and rebooted the machine a few times and everything was fine but when I did a total reboot(unplug) it disappeared and now my usb port does not work

TiVo software will wipe and rebuild the /var partition at any time. You're getting hit rather frequently. Don't fight it, move the files to somewhere on the root partition.
