I know I should have read more but DTV is coming in the morning and setting me up for locals which will require another dish pointing at a different satellite and 4 new receivers to replace my older Hughes, 1 of which is a tivo Hughes, it has a 120 gig hd and lifetime, they said they will replace old receivers free of charge including 1 tivo but I hate to give it up for a basic non-lifetime 40 gig hd here is the question, if I remove Hard drive from my GXCEBOT and after install in to new tivo will I have a problem. if this is a dumb question sorry.

 BDD

You can extract the shows from the old Tivo and reinsert them to the new one, after hacking it. You can, of course, reuse the hard drive, too; but you'll have to reimage it with the new unit's software.

IIRC, lifetime attaches to the account with DirecTivos, so it should still cover the new unit.
