View Full Version : Reading HDD from satellite reciever on PC

I've been reading up on things about TiVo, but it has no relation with what i'm about to ask since it doesn't have an network port to connect to. But it is somehow related to the files that you have to read. And you guys seem to know a lot about encrypted data.

I've bought a Kaon Satellite Reciever model KSC-570H (http://www.kaonmedia.com/product_ksc570h_f.php) a few weeks ago.
And there's a HDD inside of 80GB It's a Western Digital: WD800BB (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=10) with 7200RPM and it got a EIDE connection from where i would be able to download the files. I connected it to my PC via a USB 2.0 to IDE cable (http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=USB2IDE-N&cat=CBL) to look what's on this HDD. And the PC is unable to read the drive. I've put some movies on the HDD though, but it doesn't seem to recognize it. So my question is: Is there some kind of software that does recognize this data like the TiVo tools, so i can get my movies off there and burn them on a DVD?

The reason i'm asking is because i can watch them through the HDD, but not in Surround Sound. My Home cinema player won't let me play anything on surround sound except the DVDs. It's a SONY DAV-S300 (http://formen.ign.com/news/19576.html)
