I want to copy TV shows from TiVo to my hardrive

I have been reading many of the forums on this...

It's very confusing...

If I get this all setup... will it be:
very slow?? over network?
what format will it be in?? can I watch in Media Player?

Have:
WinXP
DLink 614+ router (not listed in the compatible list)
DirecTV HDVR2 USB plugs not enabled?? looks like I need Ver 4 to enable??
is this USB2forTivo4.zip file the one I need?
What software program do I need to record from/to... then watch on computer

need a glossary.. what is monte?
what is killhdinitrd?

Check out the Newbie Guide Index Thread near the top of this forum for a list of links that should at least get you pointed in the right direction. Plan on spending a lot of time reading and learning before you can expect to extract videos from your Tivo. There's a bit of a learning curve involved and any short cuts will surely lead to disaster so be patient and take your time.
