sorry if this is off topic. is it normal for the oval dish to loose the signal while the round dish doesn't during heavy rains? check the oval dish signal and nothing. check the round dish and the signal was between 84% - 85%. I checked the Azimuth, Elevation, and tilt, and they are all correct. After the rain stopped, it goes back up to 87%. There are no trees or anything blocking the signal.

What you are seeing is called rain fade. The dish needs a clear line of sight to the satellites in orbit with no obstructions. Heavy rain and dense cloud cover can be just as obstructive as a stand of trees outside your house. Loss of the satellite signal during a heavy rain or snow storm is a common occurrence and can happen with either type of dish. The oval dish has a smaller surface area for capturing the signal from the three satellites so it seems logical that it would be more susceptible to rain fade than the round dish which only has to look at a single satellite.

It's also much harder to properly aim an oval dish, since it's covering multiple satellites. It's kind of a "this as good as you can get it" kind of thing, where you get an acceptable signal from each satellite, but not a great one from any of them, or at best, one of them.

And lastly, How did you check "the Azimuth, Elevation, and tilt"? Did you do it by checking the numbers, or did you try adjusting each of these in small increments until the signal is peaked?
