i sent my dsr to a guy who installed 4.01 sofware on the drive it all works great HMO and all . i would like to replace the 40 gig with a larger 120 drive if i do the normal backup of the image and then restore it to another drive will it work or will i have to do additional hacks after restoring the image thanks for all the help

Depends on exactly what the guy did to hack it. If it has the standard partition layout then mfstools should be able to back it up and restore it to a bigger drive. If he did something else then it won't. Try it and see how it goes, just be careful with the original because you might need it.
EDIT: BTW, this thread should probably get over to the newbie forum. Could a mod help us out?
