I have S2 tivo for 1.5 year now and the only thing that I did on it until last night was upgraded it to a 120 gig drive with mfs tools. I always wanted to hack it. When monte/sleeper came out, it didn’t look like a solid solution to me so I decided to hold off. When I saw killhdinitrd it looked like a good option. So I bought refurbished S2 from tivo.com for $50 which arrived on Fri. I decided to dedicate my Sunday to hacking tivo. It took me about 5 hours to “fully hack” my tivo.
So far I’ve got 160gig drive with killhdinitrd’d kernel,telnet,ftp, superpatch,busybox, vserver,tivoweb. I can stream videos from tivo using tivoweb/tyshow, or use TyTool to pull videos down.
I found out that ALL of the information needed get this done is available on this forum
I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this forum! You guys rock! In the beginning I was intimidated by this process and it took a lot of searching around this forum to get right binaries and stuff but it is all working now!!! Thanks again!
