I ordered a DVR80 as a 3rd unit in my house. Considering I don't need huge amounts of storage as it's mosting for MRV of 1 time watch shows I figured the $99 was a good deal. Well I received a R10. Since there isn't anything I can easily do to the box I think I'm going to send it back.

I was pretty annoyed when the vendor said I had to pay the return shipping.

EDIT: The vendor is RapidSatellite. I found they through the Ebay account of StrangeGifts that is selling the DVR80 for $99.

Tell them NO, I will not pay return shipping. If they hassle you contest it with your CC Company.
My buddy did this, got a refund, and got to keep his unit.

If you tell us who the vendor was, others will be able to take this into account if they are shopping for a DVR80...

I agree, they didn't deliver you the product you asked for, therefore you owe them nothing. If they want the unit back they can go fetch it from you themselves at their own expense.

Most vendors will stick you with shipping charges even if they screw up. Your only recourse for compensation is to call the CC company.

These guys really need to get their act together. They're selling a "DVR80" but the photo is of an R10 and a good chunk of the description is for the DRD435RH IRD:

Hacking concerns aside, any DirecTV dealer who isn't living under a rock should know about the software changes that have fueled demand for the R10.

I orderd a pair of sd-DVR40s from them.. Box arrived 4 days later, with a Pair of sd-dvr80s. Checked their website, and they had removed the 40s, and the 80s were the same price.

But, if they had sent me an R10 instead, I would have raised Holy HECK!

Made me awefully happy. You can also EASILY save another $60 on their price if you sign up to be an affiliate of theirs, and sell your self the unit. (no cost to sign up, and you can, apparently refer yourself).
